

Evelyn Louise (Fritz) Quatman passed away on September 27, 2012 at her home in Kansas City, Missouri. A private memorial service for residents and staff will be held in the chapel at Bishop Spencer Place, 4301 Madison Ave., Kansas City, Mo. at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 1st. Rosary will be said that afternoon at 4:30 p.m., followed by visitation until 7:00 p.m. at Visitation Catholic Church, 5141 Main Street in Kansas City, Mo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held the following morning at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 2nd at Visitation Church. A reception for friends and family will follow at Indian Hills Country Club. Private interment will take place on Thursday, October 4th at Gethsemani Cemetery in Lima,Ohio.
Evelyn was born the second of five children on December 7, 1919 in Lima, Ohio. She is preceded in death by her father Elmer Fritz and Mother Grace Violet (Bullock) Fritz, brother David Fritz (Maxine), sisters Betty Fisher and Kathleen Leahy, and her beloved husband of 64 years, George W. Quatman, Jr. She is survived by her children Kathy (Dennis) Pedrotti, Georgia (Jim) Lynch, David (Pat) Quatman, Mary Anne (Hugo) LaPrebendere and Bill (Denise) Quatman and . Her eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren will miss her dearly. Also surviving are Evelyn's brother Bill (Ellen) Fritz and twenty-two nieces and nephews.
As a young woman, Evelyn worked at the Lima (Ohio) City Loan and was an active volunteer at her children's schools and with the Red Cross in Lima, Ohio. Living most of her life in Lima, Evelyn and husband George lived in their later years on Indian Lake in Russell’s Point, Ohio where she was active in St. Mary's of the Woods Catholic Church. Evelyn also lived for many years on Singer Island in West Palm Beach, Fla., attending St. Paul of the Cross Church. Evelyn and George later moved to Rancho Bernardo, Ca. where they spent their last years together. After George’s death in 2008, Evelyn moved to Kansas City where she resided at Bishop Spencer Place and was a member of Visitation Catholic Church.
Evelyn was deeply loved by her husband George and her large family for whom she spent her life giving generous love and devotion. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, especially the grandchildren who enjoyed many summers with "Mommer and Poppy" at their Indian Lake cottage. The family will fondly remember Mommer's sweet smile, great meals and the many wonderful moments throughout her long and happy life. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Evelyn Quatman Memorial Fund at Lima Central Catholic High School, 720 S. Cable Rd., Lima, Ohio 45805.
