A Visitation will take place from 10:00am to 11:00am followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00am on Monday, June 4th at Liberty Christian Church, 427 East Kansas Street, Liberty, Missouri 64068. Burial will follow at Mount Moriah Cemetery South, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64145.
Ferris was born on December 31, 1924 on a farm west of Eagleville, Missouri to Lula Lee and Charley Cook. The family moved to Washington State where they settled on a homestead. Ferris had a sister Opal Schmude and a brother Keith Cook. He graduated from Eagleville High School.
Ferris served in the Army during World War II with the 138th Engineer Battalion in Europe. He spent 2 years and 2 months serving our country.
He helped build, owned and operated a service station in New Hampton, Missouri. He married Virginia Swartz on March 16, 1952. They moved to Kansas City, Missouri where Ferris started his career with Standard Oil Refinery-Sugar Creek in manufacturing. He worked for them for six years. He then went to work for the Western Auto distribution center for 14 years. Ferris ended his working career at Budd Park Christian Church where he worked for 19 years as a custodian. He happily retired in 1991. Ferris loved gardening and yardwork.
Ferris is survived by his wife of 66 years, Virginia. He is also survived by two daughters Sandy (Roger) McCollum and Debbie (Russell) Craun as well as four grandsons Jeff (Collin) McCollum, Michael (Cindy) McCollum, Lucas Craun and Jacob Craun.
