

Florence Freiburghouse passed away peacefully Monday afternoon, May 30, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, June 3, at Church of The Ascension, 9510 W. 127th St., Overland Park, KS. Burial in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa. Visitation 9 a.m. before the Mass.
Florence was a lifelong resident of the Kansas City, MO area. She grew up in Northeast KCMO born of first generation Italian parents (Anthony and Josephine Troup). She graduated from Glennon Catholic High School in 1942. Subsequently, she worked as an Executive Secretary for TWA and was selected by actor Alan Ladd as the winner of the 1949 Miss TWA Beauty Contest.
In 1950 she married Edward Freiburghouse. They were married for 52 years until his death in 2002.
In life Florence was an avid cook, bridge player and sports fan especially of the Missouri Tigers and the Kansas City Royals. Florence was devoted to her family and a committed Catholic.
Mrs. Freiburghouse is survived by three children, Sharon Sisel (husband Larry) of Overland Park, Richard Freiburghouse (wife Claudia) of Kansas City and Ronald Freiburghaus (wife Mary) of Columbia, MO and a brother Tom Troupe (wife Carole Cook) of Los Angeles. Grandchildren are Alison Sherman (husband Jeremy) of Overland Park, Erik Sisel (wife Stephanie) of Lee’s Summit and Ashlei Holznecht (husband Charles) of Kansas City. She also has three great grandchildren, Matthew, Zachary and Brynlee.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Church of The Ascension or Catholic Community Hospice. We would also like to thank those who gave compassionate care at Village Shalom and Catholic Community Hospice.
