

Tom Thompson, 91, of Prairie Village, Kansas, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, March 17, 2015. Tom was born in Kansas City, Missouri to E.E. “Tom” and Eleanor Thompson. He graduated from Paseo High School, and the University of Missouri Law School. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II as a First Lieutenant, and he flew 300 combat missions in the China Burma India Theater (CBI). Tom was awarded the Bronze Star, Distinguished Flying Cross, among others. He was a member of the American Legion Post #129, Vanguard Breakfast Club, The Kansas City Jazz Orchestra (Board of Directors), active member of Christ Church Anglican, BENS (Business Executive National Security), and the Missouri Bar Association. Tom was Chairman of the Board of Xebec Corp., and Chairman of the Board of DIT-MCO International.
Tom is survived by his wife of 31 years, Karen “K.C.”; children, Rick (Linda) Thompson of Leawood, KS, Jill (Tom) Harbrecht of San Diego, CA, John (Michele) Thompson of Overland Park, KS, and David Thompson of Austin, TX; six grandchildren: Brent, Kelley, Katie, Abby, Ryan and Brooke; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Eleanor “Ellie” Hinchman; and his much loved pets, Truman and CeCe.
Visitation will be held Sunday, March 22nd, at McGilley State Line Chapel, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held Monday, March 23rd, 11:00 a.m., at Christ Church Anglican, 5500 West 91st Street, Overland Park, KS, with private family burial following in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to F.L. “Tom” Thompson Memorial Fund, c/o, UMKC Law Foundation, 500 East 52nd Street, Kansas City, MO 64110 or to Wayside Waifs, 3901 Martha Truman Road, Kansas City, MO 64137.
