
Frances Gertrude Roehl Sparks, age 89, resident of Kingswood Senior Living Community in Kansas City, Missouri, died on October 18, 2010. Frances was born June 15, 1921, in Kansas City, Missouri, daughter of William Gustaf and Gertrude (Little) Roehl, and graduated from Paseo High School. She married her sweetheart from the church choir, a Navy electrician’s mate, Earl John Sparks, on March 30, 1942. They lived in New York, Virginia, and California during World War II, returning to Kansas City after the war to raise children Richard, Marilyn and Doug Sparks. They were residents of Butler, Missouri for ten years before retiring to San Diego, California in 1984. After Earl’s death in 2001, Frances returned to Kansas City, Missouri. Frances and Earl were lifelong members of the United Methodist Church. Frances is survived by her children and their spouses, Richard and Jan Sparks, Marilyn and Patrick Emmett, Doug and Anna Sparks; grandchildren Kelley Emmett, Michael Sparks, Patrick James Emmett, and Robyn (Matt) Smith; and great-grandchildren Aubrey Montford and Ethan Emmett. Visitation will be on Friday, October 22, at 10:00 a.m. with funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri. Additional memorial services will be held on Monday, October 25, 2:00 p.m. at Kingswood Senior Living Community, 10000 Wornall Road, Kansas City, Missouri.
