Gary Wayne Metcalf

Gary was born January 18, 1953, in Kansas City, Missouri to Loyce and Eva (Vermillion) Metcalf. He attended Northeast High School. He was a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army stationed at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina and he loved singing while in the Army. Gary worked at Montgomery Wards for 15 years and then went on to Percy Kent; where he worked for 25 years and later retired.

Gary was an amazing artist and loved listening to music. He loved to cookout, and he enjoyed playing the lottery. Gary was a huge KC Chiefs and KC Royals fan. He enjoyed target shooting, fishing, camping, and all things to do with nature. Gary really enjoyed sitting on his deck in the mornings, drinking coffee and watching the wildlife in his backyard with his baby puppy, Apollo. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family.

Gary was preceded in death by both parents; his sisters, Elizabeth (Libby) Reyes and Denise Smith; and his brothers, Louie Metcalf and Jack Metcalf.

He is survived by the love of his life, Margaret Campos and his dog, Apollo; his children: Angela Salas (Joe), Edward Metcalf, Desirae Metcalf (Jay), and Jessica Metcalf; his grandchildren: Angelo Rodriguez (Nicole), Michael Rodriguez, Jr. (Jessica), Caden Metcalf, Dominic Metcalf, Paige Metcalf, and Ava Neyens; his great grandchildren: Ava, Elijsha, Aria, Azrael, Ezra, Roman and Camila; his brother, Larry Metcalf; his sisters: Wanda Graham and Robin Leach; along with several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service and military honors for Gary will be held Friday, February 7, 2025, at 4:00PM at McGilley & Sheil Funeral Home, 11924 E. 47th Street, Kansas City, MO 64133.
