George Albert Collier, age 91, died at Delmar Gardens of Lenexa, Kansas, on April 10, 2014. Born February 25, 1923, in Henryetta, Oklahoma, to Aaron and Georgia Collier. He was raised in the Tulsa, Oklahoma area and attended Tulsa University. He proudly served his country as an Aviation Cadet in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. After the war ended, he relocated to Kansas City where he met the “love of his life” Barbara Ogilvie. They were married on September 21, 1947 and celebrated 66 years together. He actively built houses throughout the Kansas City Area for nearly 50 years. George had several true passions. He loved music, primarily playing organs and songwriting. For many years, he was an active member of the Kansas City Organ Club. He also loved woodworking, Model T’s and military airplanes, topics that he enjoyed discussing for hours upon end to anyone willing to listen. George was preceded in death by his brother Samuel Collier; and son George Steven Collier. Survivors include his wife Barbara; daughter Deborah Cleavinger; grandchildren Matthew Cleavinger (Heather); and Kristin Davis (Beau). Additional survivors include five great-granddaughters: Bryn, Sydney, Molly Grace, Hadley, and Laney.
