George Lawrence Garifo, Jr., age 68, passed away peacefully at his home in Kansas City, Missouri on September 14, 2025. He was born in LaSalle, Illinois on July 24, 1957, and spent his life touching the hearts of many with his kindness, humor, and passion for life.
A graduate of Des Moines Community College, George went on to work in various esteemed roles, including at First National Bank, the USDA, and Hallmark. However, it was his position as a Suite Attendant for the Kansas City Chiefs that he loved most. He relished in the joy of interacting with fans and sharing his passion for the team.
In 1993, George married the love of his life, Connie, with whom they shared many adventures and a deep bond of faith and love. Together, they built a life filled with happiness and cherished memories.
George’s true passions were trains and antique cars, and his impressive collection of both was a testament to his lifelong love for these timeless treasures. His fascination with these objects and the stories they told brought him joy, and he proudly shared his passion with anyone who was willing to listen.
George was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Connie Garifo; his father, George Garifo, Sr.; mother, Marcie Garifo-Hedges; step-father, Joseph Hedges; and his beloved dog, Nikki. He is survived by his sister, Sandee Keller; step-children, Jeremy (Misty) Knowles, Matt (Melissa) Knowles, and Melanie (Jeremy) Davis; nieces, Christina (Brian) Budzinski, Charleen (Nick) Fantasma; nephew, Clint (Jade) Keller; four grandchildren and seven great-nieces and nephews who will forever cherish his memory.
A visitation and service will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at McGilley Antioch Chapel located at 3325 NE Vivion Road, Kansas City, MO 64119, where family and friends will gather to celebrate George’s remarkable life. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, with the funeral service at 11:00 am. Burial service will take place after services in Resurrection Cemetery located at 5001 NE Cookingham Rd, Kansas City, MO 64156. Donations can be made to The Union Station of Kansas City Train Museum in honor of George Garifo.
The family requests guests to wear red and gold attire to honor George and his love for his beloved team, the Kansas City Chiefs.
