

George H. Watson, Jr., 95, born in Little Rock, Arkansas on June 19, 1919 joined our Lord and Savior on January 2, 2015. He graduated from Little Rock Central High School in 1939 where he excelled in sports notably on the basketball team.
He was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard from 1942-1946 and served on the USS Wakefield, a troop ship that transported servicemen to and from the European and Pacific theatres.
He began working for the International Harvester Company prior to World War II and retired following 40 years of employment.
On February 8, 1952 George married Nan Craig in Little Rock, Arkansas. There were married for 50 years.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 10, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Chapel, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri. Burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, January 9 at the chapel. Memorial gifts may be sent to the Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64145.
Mr. Watson was a loving husband and father, and a loyal employee and friend. He mailed hundreds of Christmas, birthday and anniversary cards annually and faithfully baked a birthday cake for each member of his family every year.
Spending time with family was Mr. Watson’s priority. He coached, attended and otherwise participated in his children and grandchildren’s sporting, school and scouting activities. An avid “picture taker” he left his family a treasure of memories in photographs.
Mr. Watson is survived by his loving and grateful family: son George C. Watson (Kathy), Leawood, Kansas; daughter Nancy Ottinger (Bryan), Lenexa, Kansas; grandchildren George H. Watson III, Leawood, Kansas, Valerie Regan (Charles), Kansas City, Missouri, Christopher and Daniel Ottinger, Lenexa, Kansas; and great-granddaughters Lila and Charlie Regan.
