On November 4, 2024, Gregory A. Buyanovsky, 97, of Olathe, KS, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family and friends. Born on January 1st, 1927 in Baku, Azerbaijan to Arkady and Dina Buyanovsky, he studied biology at Baku State University. Earning a full professorship by the age of 35, he was one of the youngest scholars to achieve the rank.
Gregory and his first wife, Veronica, moved to Israel in 1976 before settling in Columbia, Missouri in 1981, where Gregory joined the faculty of the college of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources. After 21 years he retired as Professor Emeritus and moved to Olathe, where he lived for the rest of his life.
Gregory is survived by his wife Olena, sons Sergey and Cyril and six grandchildren.
Private family services will be held at Mount Moriah Cemetery.
