Hans Eric Ostlund, Sunrise Beach, Missouri, was born in Boxholm, Sweden. When he was less than a year old, his family came to America and settled in Kansas City, Missouri. He served in the Army during World War II, and at the end of the war married his sweetheart Patricia Roberts. While raising their family of five children, they enjoyed many activities – including dancing, bowling, playing bridge, traveling with family and friends and fishing, both at the Lake of the Ozarks and in Minnesota in the summer. Together, their involvement in the Lions club helped make a difference in their community. In his career as a painter and paper hanger, Hans enjoyed helping others redecorate their homes, and then in his “spare time” was always remodeling the family home or thinking of the next project to improve it and the homes of his children. His creative talent also surfaced in his enjoyment of painting landscapes. A piano player, he loved music, especially the big band sound of the 1940’s, and encouraged his children to learn an instrument. His favorite sports team was the Kansas City Chiefs and he enjoyed many games in the “old” and new stadiums. Survivors include 5 children, 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren on the way. Daughters: Julie Kiffin, Marilynn Janson and Tricia Morris; Sons: John Ostlund and Peter Ostlund; He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia in 2002. “Swede” will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His greatest treasure in life was his family, and he never missed a chance to let them know how much they were loved.
