Hardie J. Rothschild, 80, of Overland Park, KS, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 2. She was born September 10, 1931 in Kansas City where she spent the majority of her life. Hardie was trained as a registered nurse and worked at Menorah and St. Luke's Hospital in KCMO, then later at Goddard Health Center on the campus of the University of Oklahoma.
Hardie loved life and learning. She found great pleasure in reading and classical music. She was articulate and witty and could answer almost any question pertaining to English history. A bargain hunter at heart, she loved searching for treasures at thrift shops and garage sales. She enjoyed gardening and loved to plant flowers on her patio every spring.
Her pride and joy were her daughters; Jane, Laurie, and Meredith, and son-in-laws; Pat and Mark. She leaves behind her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Sarah, Katie, Patrick, Alex, Emily, Jake, Hannah, Rachel, Dillon, Jack, Lydia, and Luke. Their pictures graced the walls of every hospital and rehab facility she stayed in; they were loved and adored. Over her 3 year struggle with cancer she befriended many caretakers who lovingly gave their time and energy to helping her. And though her body was wasting away, her faith grew. She found great comfort in the prayers of family, friends and caretakers. A private family service will be held at a later date. Please direct contributions to Cambridge Church/Rwanda Youth Camp or the Kansas City Hospice House.
