Harold E. Skinner, Sr, 94, of Independence, MO passed away August 27, 2016. Services will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Groves Community Hospice, 15600 Wood Chapel Rd, Ste. A, Kansas City, MO 64136.
Harold was born June 12, 1922 in Breckenridge, MO to Lloyd and Ruby Skinner. He joined the United States Army in December of 1942. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the Battle of Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and several other major battles. He also served in the Korean Conflict. Because of his service, he was awarded 6 Bronze Battle Stars, Good Conduct Medal, and the Fourragere of Belgium Ribbon. Harold would eventually make a life in the military, retiring in 1964 as Sgt. First Class.
Harold is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Billy Fay Skinner, Ronald Skinner, and Albert Skinner, sons Dannie Skinner and Harold Skinner, Jr. Survivors include his daughter Vickie Cornish and husband, Burton of Bentonville, AR; sister Madeline Allen of Lawson. MO; four grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
