Helen Marie Fetters

Helen Marie (Burkhart) Fetters, 79, died July 20, 2015. She was a member of Nativity of Mary Catholic Church, 10010 E. 40 HWY in Independence. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday, July 28th from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial.

Helen was a graduate of Westport High School & Metropolitan Community College. She was a Camp Fire Leader & member of the “Holy Rollers” (bread bakers) at the church. After her children reached high school, she started working at Volume Services (Royals & Chiefs). She later worked at Goodyear Recap Facility, AGCO Corp, I.M. Convention Services & retired from Boese-Hilburn Electrical Contractors. She was a volunteer at The Cancer Institute for several years. She loved her home community of Whispering Meadows and was an active volunteer for many years, until failing health interfered.

Survivors include her husband of nearly 57 years, Michael Fetters; sons, Kevin (Jessie) & Pat; a daughter, Kathy (Doug Crouch); six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and brothers, Bill & Mel. She was preceded in death by her parents, John & Susan (Gant) Burkhart and a sister, Shirley Donnelly.

Her feisty attitude, beautiful smile and love of family & friends will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Her spirit lives on in those who knew her best & loved her most.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Nativity of Mary Capital Fund.
