Helen Maurine Herbertson died December 19, 2013, and was born November 22, 1913 into a Quaker community in Pratt County, Kansas, daughter of Emory and Lela Gordon. She graduated from Friends University in Wichita, Kansas in 1936. Helen married James E. Herbertson in 1937, Dr. Herbertson died in 1976.
She leaves three children and their spouses James E. and Linda Herbertson, Kansas City, Missouri, Norma and Randy Flett, Seattle, Washington, Kathleen and Randy Hutsell, Lee’s Summit, Missouri; eight grandchildren and their spouses Eric and JoAnn Flett, David and Corrie Flett, Brian and Mary Flett, Adam and Elizabeth Flett, Joshua and Carrie Fancher, Emory Herbertson and Leslie Levings, Ethan Herbertson, Raegan and Toby Freeland; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Helen was an ordained Elder of Colonial Presbyterian Church. She held offices in the Women of the Church at all levels-local, state and national.
The family ask that there be no flowers. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 23, at Colonial Presbyterian Church, 9500 Wornall Road, Kansas City, Missouri.
