Helen K. Madsen, 97, of Kansas City, MO passed away September 26. She was one of four children born to parents Jack and Theresa Devine who were farmers in Hancock County, Iowa. After graduating High School in Britt, Iowa Helen attended AIB College of Business in Des Moines. She worked for the US Marine Corp in Ft. Worth Texas during WWII. After the war Helen came to Kansas City where she met her husband of 70 years, George. Helen and George were members of the St. Thomas More parish. After 33 years Helen retired in 1986 as an administrative assistant from the Federal Aviation Administration. Upon retirement she continued to serve the community for many years as a volunteer at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Helen is survived by daughter Kathy Madsen of Kansas City, son and daughter-in-law Mike and Gerrie Madsen, of Jefferson City, brother Paul Devine of Corwith, Iowa, three step grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family thanks the staff of Brookdale Clare Bridge, and Catholic Community Hospice. Service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 1, 2018 at McGilley State Line Chapel.
