Helen M. Stockton

Helen Marie Stockton, 85, Kansas City North, passed away on Nov. 6, 2014 at North Kansas City Hospital. Services will be Saturday, Nov. 8 at 11:00 AM at McGilley Antioch Chapel, 3325 NE Vivion Road, Kansas City, with a visitation preceding the service at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Stockton, MO

Helen was born April 6, 1929 in Iberia, MO to Effie and Roe Gardner. She was married to Floyd Patterson from 1944 to 1955. From this union, they had two children, Larry Ellis Patterson and Brenda Sue Haston. Helen then married the love of her life, Donald K. Stockton in 1958. From this union, Sherrie Dawn Lohmeyer was born. Helen was Donald’s constant companion and caregiver until his passing in 1997. Together they raised the three children as a family.

Helen worked her entire life, beginning in a shoe factory at the age of 12. She was a waitress for 30+ years before retiring from Sears after 25 years of service there.

Helen was a devoted member of the Blue Ridge Assembly of God Church in Independence, MO for many years and recently became a member of the Northland Cathedral.

Helen is survived by her three children and their spouses; Larry Patterson and wife Janice, Brenda Haston and husband Jim, and Sherrie Lohmeyer and husband Bob; seven grandchildren, Greg and Scott Patterson, David and Alan Haston, Lindsay Haralson, Sam and Jake Lohmeyer; and seven great-grandchildren; Aurora, Kendall, Kyleigh, Sawyer, Nick and Max Haston, Skyeler Johnson and Arya Haralson.
