Howard was born in Kansas City, MO to Charles and Carrie (Katzer) Geelan on February, 21, 1928. He married Gladys M. Paul in November of 1953. They spent 56 years together until her passing in 2010.
Howard worked for TWA as an Airframe Mechanic for over 45 years before his retirement. While working at TWA, Howard served in the Air Force from 1949-1953.
Howard had a sharp eye and was known to be able to find tools and other useful items on the side of the road just by driving. By the end of his driving days, he had amassed over a whole toolbox full of tools as well as other items.
Some of Howard’s favorite pastime included general tinkering, working on cars and collecting their emblems, woodworking, enjoying cigars and collecting their boxes, and enjoying the beauty of his Iris’s and Lilies.
Throughout his life, Howard had deep spiritual convictions and was a devout Catholic. He is now at peace with his wife at The Lord's side.
Howard is preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and brother, Dan Geelan. He leaves behind his sons, Joseph (Kim) Geelan, and Richard Geelan; daughters, Vernetta Fiene and Mary (Rex) Murphy; grandchildren, Kyle Murphy and Alysia Murphy; sister, Virginia Arlint; and nephews, Mike Arlint, David Arlint, and Larry Arlint.
The family of Howard Geelan wishes to extend our sincere thanks and gratitude to the staff at North Kansas City Hospital for their exceptional care.
