

Iris LaVerne Dillard, age 86, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025 in her home surrounded by loved ones. She was born on December 13, 1938 in Kansas City, Missouri to the late George and Willa Edgenton.
Iris was a proud graduate of Lincoln High School and continued her education at The University of Kansas and University of Missouri-Kansas City. She built a distinguished career at Hallmark, where she worked as a manager in manufacturing until her retirement in 1995. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Iris was deeply engaged in her community. She was an active member of several social organizations, including the Lincoln Alumni Association and the Twin Citian Club.
Her adventurous spirit led her to travel extensively with her beloved husband, Roy, and close friends creating cherished memories around the world. Iris also had a passion for photography, capturing life’s beauty through her lens.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Roy Dillard; children Eric Dillard of Lee’s Summit, MO and Leah Waters (Bill) of Plano, Texas; sisters Juanita Hendricks, Jan Johnson (Henry) and Rise Williams all of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, Mikala Harris (James) of Blue Springs, MO, Alexandrya Dillard of Chicago, IL, Marcus Waters of Berlin, Germany, and Nicole Waters of Broomfield, CO; and her beloved great grandchildren Jayden, Aaliyah, Amir, Jordyn, Marcus, and Amari. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Willa Edgenton, and daughter, Jennifer Dillard.
Memorial visitation will be held at Mt. Moriah Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri, 64131 on Friday, September 5, 2025 at 9:30 a.m. followed by her Homegoing Celebration of Life service at 10:30 a.m. Private committal of her ashes at Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
Iris will be remembered for her warmth, dedication, and the joy she brought to all who knew her.
