

Jack Dan Smoot, 74, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2010 at his home. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, March 15, at Mt.Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri, 64131. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 16, at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to AseraCare Hospice of KC. Jack was born March 25, 1935, to Guy and Bess (Long) Smoot, in Mammoth Springs, Arkansas. He was married to Laura Evelyn (Block) Smoot until her passing December 7, 1995. Jack was a proud Local #2 Sheet Metal Worker retiring in 1995, he had just received his 50 year service pin. Also preceding him in death were his parents, three brothers Bill, Bob and Wesley, two sisters Ester (Smoot) Carter and Carolyn (Gean) Smoot, half-brother Thomas Smoot and half-sister Anna Ray May. He is survived by his daughter Jacqueline K. Brant and son-in-law Fred E. Brant; stepson David Kraxner and wife; stepdaughter Debra McGhee and husband; grandchildren Thomas, Phillip and Amber Brant; sisters Freddie Myers and Mary Doss; brother Jim Smoot; three great-granddaughters, six stepgrandsons, two stepgreat-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
