Jacquelyn Sue Sweeney

Jackie was born in Kansas City, MO to Charles and Agnes Pearce on January 21, 1941. She graduated from Raytown High School and Burroughs Business School. She was a Series 7 Registered Broker and worked as an accountant. She retired from the Missouri Department of Conservation in 2007.

She married Richard Sweeney on October 14, 1961, in Kansas City. Together, Dick and Jackie experienced all the challenges and uncertainties, highs and lows, triumphs and tragedies that life has to offer, and did so with grace, courage and respect for one another. Jackie was a gentle spirit. She greeted everyone with a warm smile and a friendly demeanor and will be sorely missed.

Jackie is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Agnes Pearce; brothers, Donald Pearce and Ronald Pearce; son, Steven Sweeney; nieces, Dawn Pearce and Carol Sweeney Fletcher; nephews, Michael Pearce and Robert Sweeney; and great-nephew, Michael Anthony Pearce.

Jackie is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Richard Sweeney; son, Thomas Sweeney (Maureen); daughter, Susan Sweeney (Kevin Fulks) and grandchildren Erin Sweeney Walsh (Michael), Brendan Sweeney and Megan Sweeney; and Judy Pearce, her sister-in-law of 68 years, and many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM on Friday, April 11, 2025, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 8510 Wornall Road, Kansas City, MO 64114 with The Rev. Fr. Gregory J. Lockwood officiating. A reception will follow in the basement of the Church.

Memorials may be given to Kansas City Hospice House. The Sweeney family wishes to extend our sincere gratitude to the staff at Kansas City Hospice House for their compassion in caring for Jackie in her final days.
