JAMES C. ALLEY James C. Alley, 81, of Independence, MO, passed away February 12, 2015. Funeral to be held 12PM Tuesday, Feb. 17, at Floral Hills Funeral Home, with visitation at 11AM and Masonic service at 11:45. Burial with military honors to follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Ararat Shrine Hospital for Children, 5100 Ararat Dr, Kansas City, MO, 64129. Jay was born July 26, 1933, in Tarsney, MO, to James A. Alley and Lottie Fern Alley. He went to the First United Methodist Church and attended Bethel Christian Union Church in Polo, MO. He served in the Air Force, in Oakland, CA, for training, then Tucson, AZ, and later in Saudi Arabia for one year. He finished his service in Nancy, France, where he met Marie T. “Mickey” Bernheim. They were married June 2, 1956 and returned to the states in 1959. Mickey passed away Jan. 23, 2006. On Dec. 20, 2007, Jay married Julia C. Urnise. Jay worked for G.M. Leed’s Plant for 24 years and 9 months, retiring when the plant closed Aug. 1, 1988. After that, he worked various part-time jobs, until going to work for Blue River College in Blue Springs and Independence. He worked there for 15 years part-time as maintenance. Jay was very active with many organizations: member of the Ararat Shrine, past president of Blue Springs Shrine Club, past president of Kay Cee Lamplighters National Camping Club, past president of Lotawana Shrine Club, past patron of Eastern Star, member of the American Legion Post 0499 Blue Springs, and a member of McDonald Lodge #324 AF and AM of Independence, MO. Jay was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mickey, and brother Bob. He is survived by his wife Julia Alley, son Jack D. Alley of Overland Park, KS, brother Milton Alley (Esther) of Excelsior Springs, MO, sister Donna Hackley of Grain Valley, MO, 4 step-sons and step-daughters, and many nieces and nephews.
