

Jim Frost, 83, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2012 at Lakeview Village, Lenexa. Jim was born on October 15, 1929 in Berkeley, California. to Clarence and Georgette Frost who preceded him in his death. He was the younger of two brothers. His brother Robert preceded him in death. Jim married Patricia Taggart on June 19, 1949. After graduating from the University of California Berkeley, he began his career with General Mills in San Francisco, first as an accountant and then as a grain trader. His career in the grain industry spanned 5 decades. In the 1960s he began working for Continental Grain Co. in Ft. Worth, Texas. He eventually moved back to Kansas City in the 1975. He was Chairman of the Kansas City Board of Trade from 1986 to 1987. Jim volunteered for many years as a baseball coach in Kansas City church leagues and proudly coached his granddaughters in softball after his retirement from Continental in 1991. His early love and passion for baseball led him to letter in high school, playing in the same city league against the notorious Billy Martin. After retirement, Jim continued this passion by taking yearly baseball road trips with his sons. Their goal was to visit every single major league stadium at least once. Jim accomplished that goal in 2007. Jim is survived by his three sons, Gregg Frost (Jeanine), Jeff Frost (Dawn Messing) and Doug Frost (Brenda Hartman). He leaves 8 grandchildren: Lauren Frost (Pile), Stephanie Frost (Holland), Hillary Frost (Carter),Hannah Frost, Allegra Frost, Cathleen Fitzpatrick, Grady Fitzpatrick, Willis Fitzpatrick and one great granddaughter, Avery. Jim enjoyed making people laugh. He felt that when he met someone he wanted to leave them with a smile on their face. Jim's kindness was always evident in his relationships with the residents of Lakeview Village where he spent his final years. The family would like to thank the staff of the second floor of the Lakeview Care Center for their steadfast compassion and kindness to our dad and grandpa. A memorial service will be held at Mount Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, on Wednesday, December 26.
