

James Calvin "Jim" Hixson, 79, of Gladstone, Missouri, passed away on October 25, 2023. He was born on September 2, 1944, in Kansas City, Missouri. Jim was a man of great character, genuine kindness and friendliness, exemplifying the values of love, dedication, and resilience throughout his life. Jim was loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
In his leisure time, Jim found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a profound love for literature and embarked on countless adventures through the pages of his favorite books. He was an avid traveler, exploring the world and cherishing the memories he made along the way. Jim appreciated the arts and had a deep admiration for the theater. He possessed a remarkable talent for woodworking, crafting intricate pieces that displayed his creativity and craftsmanship. He enjoyed spending quality time on the farm, creating cherished memories with his grandchildren. Jim's steadfast commitment to his wife, Becky, lasted for an impressive 53 years until her passing.
Jim received his education at Plattsburg High School, where he fostered lifelong friendships and laid a foundation for his future endeavors. Later, he continued his pursuit of knowledge at Central Missouri State University, expanding his intellectual horizons and instilling a thirst for learning within himself.
Devoting his entire career to Castle Metals, Jim served as an Outside Sales Representative, demonstrating unwavering commitment and loyalty to his work. He left a lasting impact on his colleagues and customers, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of professionalism and dedication.
Beyond his professional achievements, Jim's true joy stemmed from the moments spent with his family. He was a loving father to his son, Brad Hixson, and a cherished father-in-law to Frances Hixson. His grandchildren, Palmer, Reilly, and Pierce Hixson were the light of his life, and he reveled in their company, guiding them through life's adventures with wisdom and love. Jim was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Calvin and Mildred Hixson, as well as his adored wife, Becky Hixson.
A memorial service will be held on December 3, 2023, from 2-4 pm at the distinguished McGilley Antioch Chapel. Located at 3325 NE Vivion Road in Kansas City, Missouri, the chapel's solemn halls will provide a tranquil setting for remembrance and reflection.
