James also leaves behind seven grandchildren and two brothers Ken and Dennis Hood. James was born to Howard and Garnet Hood on 4 December 1949 in Kansas City, Missouri. James graduated from Raytown High School in 1967 and continued his education by earning an Associates Degree.
Jamie served in the National Guard from 1968-1976, he was an x-ray technician in the a Dental unit. He started his career at Avon Products meeting his, unknown to him at the time, brother James White. James and James spent countless hours on the golf course and time with each other’s families. “White” is the dearest and oldest friend James has ever had. James also spent 18 years working for Marion Labs where he was a group lead in the production department. He then finished his career working for the city of Kansas City at KCI Airport as a mail handler.
Jamie had a love for not only golf but also hunting, and thus hunting dogs. His first bird dog was a Lewellen Setter named Sophie, she was a wonderful family dog that never needed to be taught to hunt. She just knew what to do naturally. His second Lewellen was Gracie. He had a very close and special bond with this particular dog from the moment he picked her up as an 8 week old puppy. He lost Gracie in December of 2022 at age 13.
Jamie will be laid to rest on Friday 20 October 2023 at Newcomer’s Floral Hills located at 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, Missouri 64133. There will be a visitation beginning at 1pm and the service will start at 2pm.
