James Alan “Jimmy” Jensen, 22, born July 2, 1993 in Norfolk, VA and passed away July 7, 2015 at his home in Overland Park, KS of natural causes. Visitation will be from 2:00-3:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd., followed by a graveside service at 3:00 p.m. at Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Ronald McDonald House Charity of Kansas City or The Epilepsy Foundation.
Jimmy always had the most positive attitude. Life presented him with difficult health challenges. You would never know from the smile on his face the pain he continuously experienced. Jimmy was deeply loved and has left a hole in our hearts.
He was preceded in death by his uncle Michael Jensen. Jimmy is survived by his mother Shelley Collins; father Daniel (Fatima) Jensen; stepfather John (Terry) Collins; grandparents Donna Gilchrist, Bernard and JoAnne Jensen, Ralph and Lori Hammond, Dan and Linda Collins; sisters Kassandra Collins and Sabrina Collins; aunts and uncles Christopher (Karina) Rogers, Anthony Rogers, Jennifer (Dewayne) Shelor, Jessica Gilchrist, Ryan (Kaci) Gilchrist, Anthony Jensen, Liz Jensen, Charles Hammond, Megan Hammond and Bradley (Adriane) Rogers; and niece Averi Klein and many cousins. He is also survived by extended family Jim, Hersh and Shayna Ellis, DeCarlos Haynes; best friend Tyler Smith; and his trusted service dog Crackle.
