Jay was born and raised in Kansas City and graduated from Shawnee Mission South High School, where his favorite class was auto shop.
After high school, he worked as a technician for plating companies in Indianapolis, Indiana, and West Palm Beach, Florida, where he also spent time working on a dive boat. He later returned to the Kansas City area and worked in manufacturing for Bayer Animal Health.
Jay was a lifelong fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals. He enjoyed all forms of car racing and had a deep appreciation for cars in general.
He was happiest when camping, hunting, and fishing, often accompanied by the many dogs he loved over the years.
He will be remembered for his calm demeanor, kind heart, and willingness to do anything to help a friend in need.
Jay was laid to rest at Mt. Moriah Cemetery beside his parents and will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
