James N. Owens, 29, passed away July 30, 2014. Visitation will be from 1 – 3 PM Sunday, Aug 3, 2014, at Floral Hills Funeral Home with funeral services beginning at 3 PM. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Columbia, MO. In lieu of flowers his family requests contributions to the American Alzheimer’s Assoc.
James was born in Columbia, MO and was a graduate of Fulton High School and Missouri State University obtaining a degree in music education. He moved to the Kansas City area in 2009 and married the love of his life, Jami. Together they had many adventures in life and travel. James was a member of the music fraternities, Phi Mu Alpha and Kappa Kappa Psi. James was preceded in death by his paternal grandpa, Kenneth Owens, Sr. and his maternal grandfather, J.D. Schaffer. Survivors include his wife, Jami Owens; devoted parents, Kenneth, Jr. and Deborah Owens; paternal grandma, Maxine Mulvihill; maternal grandmother, Corrine Schaffer; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and his best canine friend, Trooper. James had a passion for music, particularly jazz, and a great desire to share that passion with others.
