James B. Tutor, 89, Wheatland, MO, died September 19, 2020, at his home, surrounded by those who loved him. He was born September 14, 1931 in Pope, MS to Toola and Birdie (Joyner) Tutor, one of six children.
He was drafted into the Korean War and served until January 1954 and married Mary E. Bolton six weeks later on February 6, 1954, and had two daughters, Sandra Van Gordon and Donna Tutor.
He worked for General Motors Leed’s Division for 30 years before retiring and moving to the Wheatland area with his wife, Mary. He enjoyed fishing and camping with his 5 granddaughters, hunting, going to yard sales, auctions and raising a large garden.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; his parents; four brothers; granddaughter, Casey Van Gordon; and his great-granddaughter, Jocelyn Dorland.
Survivors include his two daughters, Sandra Van Gordon (Earl) and Donna Tutor; sister, Ruby Adams of Baldwin City, KS; five granddaughters: April Cramer, Ashley Conard (Josh) both of El Dorado Springs, Tricia Fust (Seth) Weaubleau, Kristen Van Gordon Springfield, MO, and Nikki Kline (Walter) Humansville; and 13 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 9-10 AM, service 10 AM, on Thursday, September 24, at Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO, with a burial and Military Honors to take place following the service at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
