Janet “Kathy” K Anderson was born on February 4th 1948, and was the only child of Gilman and Esther (Thomas) Anderson.
She lived most of her life in Independence Missouri on 32nd St. Her childhood home was 9610, and once the time was right, she bought her dream home next door at 9618.
Growing up Kathy attended Pitcher Elementary & West Rock Creek schools, Clifford H Nowlin JR High School, and graduated from VanHorn Highschool.
Upon graduating, Kathy attended nursing school from 1966-1968. She worked in the main OR and the outpatient surgery center at St Lukes Hospital on the Plaza in Kansas City Missouri. She ended her career at St Luke’s working at the Heart Institute, with her dear friend Nancy Long.
After several years of health problems, Kathy was finally diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1984. The disease took her joy and ability to dance but never diminished her love for her family and friends.
Kathy is survived by cousin Diane (Douglas) Thorndike of Graham WA, special friend Ron Wilson of Independence MO, lifelong friend Sharon Brown of Blue Springs MO, Rob (Alesha) Brown and his family of Grain Valley MO, Tami (Preston) Brown Daniels and her family of Altoona IA, Chris Stellmacher of Kansas City MO, Nancy Long of Mansfield TX, along with many friends and colleagues who will miss her dearly.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mid America Chapter of the MS Society and Chain of Hope Animal Shelter of Independence Missouri.
A visitation for Janet will be held Thursday, June 19, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Floral Hills Funeral Home and Cemetery, 7000 BLUE RIDGE BLVD, KANSAS CITY, MO 64133, followed by a funeral from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM.
