Jan was born in June of 1939 to Freda and Allen Petering in Windsor, MO. She was raised in Kansas City, MO and a graduate of North Kansas City High School, Class of 1957. Jan attended Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas, and a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority.
Before moving back to Kansas City, Jan and Jack called Littleton, Colorado home for nearly 60 years. Jan assisted the Superintendent of Schools in the Littleton School District for 33 years before retiring. Her heart of gold and spine of steel served her well in her long career.
Jan was a graceful lady and a dancer-at-heart with a ready smile for all. She kept everyone laughing with an entertaining sense of humor.
Jan is preceded in death by parents, husband of 45 years, Jack D. Fyke, son, Douglas D. Fyke, and granddaughter Angela McCracken.
She is survived by son Stephan Fyke (Janet), nieces Bobbi Beisel (Ed), Cheri Collins (John), nephews Lane Rupard, Mark Fyke (Barbara), David Fyke (Cyndi), cousin Linda James, grandson Chris Williamson (Andrea), and nine great grandchildren.
