Jan was a life-long resident of Kansas City. She attended elementary through high school in the Center School District. After graduating in 1967, she began work in the insurance industry as an underwriter. In 1970, she married Ronnie Lampe and celebrated 25 years of marriage before his passing. After receiving her Associate Degree from Longview Community College, she became a Certified Insurance Counselor. Later in life, she had a second career as an IRS Tax Examiner.
Jan loved sports. She was an avid tailgater and Chiefs Kingdom devotee who enjoyed attending games and special events. She was ever so sad that the Chiefs didn’t make the playoffs this year but continued watching football and talking about possible roster changes for next year. Her father loved baseball and so did she. Her collection of Kansas City Royals bobble heads and autographs was treasured as were her memories of the K, especially Bark at the Park day.
At home, she loved gardening and the company of her many pets including Iszzi, River and Autumn. She thought of her four nieces as daughters and loved being with them and their families on trips and special occasions. Her love and devotion extended to the great-nieces and great-nephews, always remembering birthdays and attending as many activities and life events as she could. Jan especially cherished and appreciated Connie, her longtime friend and companion in life’s adventures.
Jan was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Lampe; her parents, Robert and Lova Gould; and her sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Patrick Roche. Survivors include her brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Marion Gould; niece Barbara Brackey and husband Paul (children Carli, Addison, and Mia); niece Cynthia Roche (children Callie, Bella, and Patricia); niece Andrea McCarthy and husband Jim (children Kate and Cal); and niece Michelle Vaughan and husband Ryan (children Luke and Parker).
