

Jean Ann Schopper, Leawood KS, died peacefully Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at University of Kansas Hospital surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Visitation at McGilley State Line Chapel on Thursday, September 5, from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., Rosary at 5:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at Church of the Nativity Catholic Church, Leawood, KS on Friday, September 6, at 11:00 a.m. Burial at 3:30 p.m. in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery, Eudora, KS. The family would like to encourage those attending the visitation and Mass services to please come dressed in colorful attire; no black.
Jean was born in St. Louis, MO, to Edwin and Marie Meyer. She received her R.N. from St. John Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis, MO. She married her husband George in 1951. Shortly after marriage they moved to Kansas City where George opened his dental practice. Jean put her nursing career on hold to raise her five children. She then resumed nursing in 1977 at the Johnson County Health Department for the pre-natal and maternal child health program. She ended her career providing blood pressure checks and counsel at area Hy-Vee grocery stores.
She is survived by son, Steve Schopper (Sharon Stinson) of Manitou Springs, CO, son, Michael Schopper (Linda) of Overland Park, KS; daughters, Lynne Schopper, D.D.S (Robert Jehle), Overland Park, KS, Julie Schopper (John Mele), Snowmass Village, CO, Debbie McMorris (Ron), Shawnee, KS; 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by George, her husband of 66 years; her parents; brother, Robert; sister-in-law, Margie; son-in-law, Frank Theisen; and great grandson Derek Risner.
