Jean Kathryn (Steinbacher) Spengler

Jean Kathryn (Steinbacher) Spengler, 90, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Kansas City Hospice House. Jean was born in Scipio, Kansas, May 11, 1922, third daughter of Lee and Lena (Mersman) Steinbacher. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert I. Spengler in 1998 and her daughter Karen A. Spengler in 2009. She was also predeceased by her sisters Helen Schroeder and Leta Shinkle. Jean is survived by sisters Ethel (Sylvan) Bryan, Dorothy Whited, Pauli Lamming and Roberta Steinbacher; and brothers, Ray and Joe (Ann) Steinbacher, as well as many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. Jean was a devoted member of St. Peter’s Parish and Prayer Circle of the Altar Society.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 5th at St. Peter’s, 6415 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO. Visitation to celebrate Jean’s life will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 4th, at McGilley State Line Chapel, 12301 State Line Road, KCMO, where the Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Operation Breakthrough, 3039 Troost, Kansas City, MO 64109, or to Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Road, Kansas City, MO 64145.
