David was born on February 12, 1949 in Elsberry, Missouri. He was the son of Columbus Earl and Mary Maxine (Miller) McCully. He graduated from Parkville High School and enlisted in the United States Marine Corp on June 23, 1967. He received Basic Specialist Training and was a Field Artillery Fire Control Man. His unit received the Presidential Unit Citation. He was also awarded the Vietnam Service Medal with Meritorious Unit Citation, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Campaign Medal with device, National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He was transferred to Marine Corp Reserve on April 20, 1970 and was honorably discharged on June 22, 1973 at the rank of Corporal.
He married Darlene Anderson and they started their life together. She preceded him in death in 2016. David was also preceded in death by his parent.
David is survived by his sons, David Earl "Bub" McCully and Jefferson Daniel "Danny" McCully, brothers John McCully, Vernon McCully, Bill McCully and Eugene McCully, sisters Mary Johnson and Donna Melton. He also leaves behing many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to cherish his memory...
A Memorial Graveside Service with Full Military Honors will take place at 11:30am on Saturday, September 8 at Mount Moriah Cemetery South, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64131.
