Jennifer Carolyn Howse

Jennifer was born on March 6, 1947, in Sedalia, Missouri. Jennifer was the beloved daughter of Elizabeth and Jack Ross, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Jon Ross.

Jennifer dedicated many years of service to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), where she met her longtime partner Robert (Bob) Mendenhall. She built lasting friendships and earned the respect of colleagues through her dedication and strong work ethic.

She found great joy in life’s simple pleasures. Jennifer loved tending to her plants, feeding and watching the wildlife in her backyard, shopping, and most of all, spending time talking and laughing with her family and friends. Her warmth, humor, and caring nature will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her brother, Charles Ross; her daughter, Christi Barto (Rod) and grandchildren, Ashlee and Austin Barto; her son, Michael Howse (Alicia) and grandchildren Evan, Zachary, and Addison Howse; and her son, Bradley Howse (Rachel) and grandson Braden Howse.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church, 11100 College Blvd, Overland Park, Kansas. Guests are asked to enter through the weekday east doors.

Jennifer’s legacy of love, laughter, and devotion to her family will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
