

Jerry Don Davis, 68, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 7th. He leaves in loving memory his wife, Dianne Davis; his three sons, Doug Lytle, Brian Davis, and Scott Davis; his son’s mother, Pat Davis; his four granddaughters, Jordan Davis, Mackenzie Davis, Allie Davis, and Sydney Davis; his two brothers, Lanny Davis and Gaylen Davis; his uncle, Neil Davis; and aunt, Katherine; as well as many family and friends.
Visitation will take place at McGilley Memorial Chapel located at 20 West Linwood Boulevard on Wednesday, December 12th, from 5-8 pm. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 13th, at Sheffield Family Life Center located at 5700 Winner Road. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to be made on behalf of Jerry Don Davis to Sheffield Family Life Center, c/o Missions.
Jerry lived a rewarding life full of accolades. He cherished his time in the U.S. Navy, were he served from 1959-1963. During which he served as an Aviation Electronic Technician, specializing in navigation equipment in Patrol Squadron Two. He later established the first Personnel Department for the City of Kansas City, Kansas, where Mayor Joseph E. Steineger, Jr. approved a proclamation declaring June 18, 1987, as Jerry Davis Day.
For five years Jerry taught Human Relations courses for Park University and Rockhurst College. He also worked for a number of years as a skilled craftsman and supervisor in the Union Millwright Trade, where he continued to be an active member. Most recently, he received fulfillment from his many volunteer efforts, including his work with Footprints (Troost Outreach Center) where he worked as a Christian Counselor for recovering addicts.
He was a proud Alum of Wyandotte High School where he graduated in 1958, K-State University, where he received his B.A. in Psychology and a Minor in Engineering (1966), and UMKC where he received his M.B.A. in Industrial Relations (1975).
Jerry was also an active member of the American Legion and Sheffield Family Life Center. Of all his accomplishments, Jerry was most proud of his relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and took joy in spreading the gospel everywhere he went.
