Jessie Murphy

Jessie V. Murphy, 92, of Kansas City, MO passed away July 1, 2011. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 5th from 6:00-8:00 PM at McGilley Antioch Chapel. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 6th at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Cemetery. Jessie was born on October 27, 1918 to William and Cora Bell Mankin in McAlester, OK. They moved to KC when she was a child where she lived out her life. She met, her “beloved” John Murphy and married June 18, 1936. They had a wonderful, fun-filled life surrounded by family, many friends and a blessed marriage of 65 years. They had one daughter Debbie, Son-in-law George Park and 3 grandchildren; Laura, Justin and Kali who they cherished and adored and were the lights of their life.

Jessie’s work career consisted of being a waitress, working with communication crystals for radio transmissions during the war, and Henry Wurst Bindery.

The family would like to thank the entire medical and support staffs for her care including, NorthCare Hospice and Integrity Home Care also her wonderful team of loving caregivers, “Jessie’s girls” Gail, Susan, Joyce and Riva. A Very special acknowledgement to her granddaughter, Kali, who provided tender, loving and devoted care. She was cherished, adored and “remembered” by all those who knew and loved her.

Jessie was preceded in death by her husband, John Murphy, parents and 2 sisters. Survivors include, her daughter, Debbie Park and husband George, grandchildren; Laura Park and Fiancé Ray Davis, Houston, TX, Justin Park, Allison Landram, Kansas City, MO and Kali Park, Kansas City, MO.
