James Martindale, 72, Died February 23rd from acute respiratory failure at a hospital in Kansas City, MO. Jim is survived by his brother Bill, wife Tandy, lifetime partner Teresa Ernsbarger and cousins Nancy McNerney, Carol, Mike (Beverly), Tom (Jeanette) O’Donnell, Sandy Langland Decker, Jeri Langland.
Jim was an Army Vietnam Veteran who will be remembered for his BBQ/Smoked meat skills, and his passion for NASCAR and the KC Chiefs. Jim had a marvelous sense of humor and he never turned down an opportunity to have some fun. He was always an upbeat and positive person who lit up the room with his great smile.
Jim will be deeply missed. Jim and his lifetime partner were together for 20+ years and the last 10 years were particularly demanding of Teresa in that she would with great care administer to Jim’s every need. He had a special place in his heart for Teresa.
It is our sincere prayer that he will be reunited with those who have gone before. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the local veteran hall located at 3027 Walnut, Kansas City MO 64108.
An Ozark memorial gathering will take place at a later arranged time.
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow;
I am the diamond glints on the snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain;
I am the gentle autumn's rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft star that shines at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there; I did not die.
