
JoAnn D'Anna Greer was born October 28, 1929 the day before the great stock market crash to Frank D'Anna and Mary (Gallucci) D'Anna. They had six children and JoAnn was the youngest. JoAnn went to school at St Aloysius. The family owned the first drive-in restaurants in Kansas City, D'Anna's drive-in at 31st and Van Brunt, where JoAnn started a long career in the restaurant business. At 18 she went to work as a waitress at the airport restaurant for Milleman and Gilbert where she met and married a traveling musician Ronald Greer in 1950. They had three sons Paolo Igor and Marco.
JoAnn became a Scientologist in 1952 and went to Phoenix AZ, where all the good and positive lifestyles were taught. From there she moved to Washington DC and worked at the Shoreham Hotel. In 1960, back to Kansas City and then worked at Putsche's 210 on the plaza. In 1961, she was at the beautiful Cabaret Riviera that featured shows such as Tony Bennett and Julie London. In 1963, she moved to Springfield IL. and worked at Holiday Inn. In 1966 she moved back to Kansas City where she worked for Pete Carter at Cock and Bull. In 1972 she moved to Santa Cruz CA. She worked at a small neighborhood bar on the ocean at Davenport north of Santa Cruz. In 1982, she went to Fairbanks Alaska and was assistant manager at the “Pumphouse” restaurant. After four years, it was back to California and retirement. Then to Kansas City to be with her mother, who was ill and died in 1987. JoAnn remained at the family's home enjoying her garden and her memories, traveling to California each winter and to Italy to visit her brother, Paolo, and to Sicily a few times. She enjoyed a very eventful and interesting life.
JoAnn is survived by her three sons, Paolo, Igor and Marco, nephews and nieces, Russell and Dorothy D'Anna and Karen Bailey, Delores Thompson, Regina Defeo, David and Robert D'Anna, Tamara Brizendine, Teresa Wagner and grandson Tyler D'Anna.
Private inurnment at Mt. St. Mary's Cemetery, KCMO.
