

A lifelong resident of the Kansas City area, John was known for his kindness and concern for others, for love and commitment to his family, for professionalism as a CPA and for dedication and reliability in non-profit public service. Born in Kansas City in 1938, John was a graduate of Lillis High School and Rockhurst University, and an active member of the Catholic Church community in the Kansas City area. In his career as a C.P.A. John long served area businesses as a partner in Troupe Kehoe Whitaker & Kent. John was an active volunteer in a number of public service organizations, including Saint James Place Food Pantry, the Gladstone Area Chamber of Commerce, the Serra Club, Northland Homes, Ursuline Sisters of Paola, the Center City Schools Fund of the KCMO Diocese, and Saint Charles Borromeo Church. John was a current member of the University of Saint Mary Board of Trustees. John was well loved as a husband, father and grandfather. He leaves his family with confidence of his enduring love and pride and will be a greatly missed as a good friend and faithful companion and for his living example as a kind and caring man.
John is survived by Letty his wife of 46 years, their married children John and Cristy Baker, Carey and Pat Linson, and Jim and Tiffany Baker, six grandchildren, and many dear friends. Visitation will be 6-8:00PM Thursday, August 21st, at Saint Charles Parish and Funeral Mass will be Friday at 11:00 AM. Memorial gifts may be sent to the Bishop Sullivan Center, the Saint Charles Mission of Hope Guatemala Project, or to the University of Saint Mary, Leavenworth KS.
