

John E. Douglas, 100, was born in Kansas City, Missouri on August 9, 1917. He lived at his home in Prairie Village from July, 1951 until his death, August 17, 2017. He met Juanita Britt at Greb Xray, where they both worked. They were married December 3, 1949 until he lost her to illness, April 17, 1998. John took his first flying lesson May 24, 1940. He got his pilot’s license and became a Naval Aviator where he flew PBM’s during WWII. These aircraft hunted and sunk submarines. (That was his job) John knew Elaine Britt (Williams) for many years. They found that they were better together than apart. (A good match) John married Elaine on August 16, 2001 and they were married 16 years until his death. John Douglas was a truly honorable man; kind and loving. John didn’t know a charity he couldn’t help. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Juanita Douglas; three brothers, Dick, Bill, and Robert; two sisters, Dorothy Anderson and Martha Waite; parents, Louis and Irene. Survivors include: his wife of 16 years, W. Elaine Douglas; stepson Michael Williams and Mike’s wife Barbara; nieces and nephews: Pam Clancy, Martha Dominick, Sandra Phillips, Karen Anderson, and Michelle Heller. John leaves his family and friends to go ahead on to Heaven. God Bless.
