

Joe attended Van Horn and Blue Springs high schools and graduated from Blue Springs High School in 1977. He later studied at Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Missouri.
From 1989 to 2008, Joe lived in Dallas, Texas, where he worked as a Senior Business Analyst for a travel technology company with roots in American Airlines before returning to Missouri.
An accomplished pianist, Joe began taking piano lessons at an early age and was especially known for performing classical music. He also achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. Known as the life of the party, Joe had a profound sense of humor and a strong eye for architectural and interior design.
He is survived by his mother, Donna Lewis, his siblings, Bob Lewis, Jon Lewis, and Barbara Lewis, and his cousin, Chris Willeford. Joe was predeceased by his father, Robert Lewis, his aunt, Betty Joline Willeford, his uncle, Alton “Willie” Willeford, and his cousin, Becky Willeford.
Family and close friends are invited to attend a memorial service in Joe’s honor at the Blue River Church of Christ, 221 NE Woods Chapel Rd, Lee’s Summit, MO, on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 1 to 3 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations on behalf of Joe made to Saint Luke’s Foundation (supporting Saint Luke’s East Hospital) to support compassionate care for others.
