Joyce was born, May 5, 1935 in Seymour, Iowa to Emil and Vernon Hibbs. Iowa is where she lived for many years and raised her two young sons, Rick and Jeff. On a trip to Nebraska with a friend she would meet the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Hoss. They married in 1972 after what is described as an “instant love affair.” Joyce and her family remained in Nebraska until moving to Kansas City, MO in 1985. Kansas City is where they opened the family dealership, Bob Hoss Dodge, in 1987. Her sons joined them in Kansas City where they would all remain. Joyce worked at the dealership, and made many friends, until she retired in 2006.
Joyce was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was there for her family in all of life’s good times, and bad. She told many stories of her sons growing up and was always sure to share how proud she was of her grandchildren. After many years of raising sons and grandsons, she was blessed with her namesake, Chloe Dianna Hoss. Joyce’s family also includes many nieces and nephews whom she spoke of often and cherished the very special relationships she had with each of them.
Joyce was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and was very committed to her faith. She had many hobbies. She loved traveling, bird watching, gardening, and puzzles. Her favorite thing was probably shopping. She loved to pick out the perfect gift for others and put thought into every detail. She loved to give and receive cards in the mail and cherished every card she ever received.
