

Joyce Elaine Majure Lees, MD, 68, of Stilwell, Kansas passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2011. Memorial Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal Church, 12251 Antioch Road, Overland Park, Kansas 66213. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal Church, Wayside Waifs, 3901 Martha Truman Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64137 or the American Cancer Society, 6700 Antioch Road, Suite 100, Merriam, Kansas 66204. Joyce was born December 27, 1942 in Philadelphia, Mississippi. She was the daughter of Clifton and Claudia (Prine) Majure. She graduated from Cirtonelle High School in 1960. She continued her education at the University of Alabama where she completed her undergraduate and graduate degrees. She earned a Bachelor of Science and a Doctorate Degree. She completed her residency in Surgery at the University of Kansas. She was Board Certified in Emergency and Occupational Medicine. Her later years were spent in Occupational Medicine. Joyce married Arnold Frederick Lees on September 1, 1972 at Christ Episcopal Church in Overland Park, Kansas. She was a member at St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal Church. Joyce loved animals and showed and raised paso fino horses. She also raised miniature dachshunds. She and Fred enjoyed the Condo in Keystone where they fly fished and skied. She is survived by her loving husband, Fred Lees of Stilwell, Kansas, twin sister, June Cordaro and husband, John of Houston, Texas, nephew, John Cordaro, Jr. of Shreveport, Louisiana, brother in law, Gregory Lees of White Bear Lake, Minnesota and sister in law, Susan Lees of Vadnais Heights, Minnesota.
