

She was born Aug. 30th, 1970 in St. Joseph, MO to George G. Groce and Carol (Gardner) Braman. She graduated from Central High School in St. Joseph, MO, Missouri Western State University (BS), and MIZ-ZOU with a Master’s in Social Work.
After moving to Kansas City in 2002, she began an amazing career at the state of Missouri Children’s Division as a social worker. After completing her Master’s degree, she worked at Good Samaritan Project, Save Inc. and Shalom Hospice. She was an exceptional social worker with connections all over the state. She was well loved by clients, co-workers, and peers within her field.
Julie was devoted to her wife Ame and large family. Known for her quick wit, she was the life of every party, authentic, genuinely compassionate, and a truly funny person.
Julie’s hobbies included watching the Chiefs, camping, lake life, and being a member of Women in the Wind KC Curve Slayers chapter, an all women’s motorcycle group. She loved riding with her wife on the back of her motorcycle. She also enjoyed riding around in her Jeep with the topand doors off.
Julie is preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
She is survived by her wife Ame, her siblings Mike (Stacey), Kelly Saxton (Julie Campbell), Chris, Lori Rice (Josh), and Lisa Groce all of St. Joseph. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and best friends Christie Ashby and Andrea Schurr.
A visitation for Julie will be held Saturday, February 17, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at McGilley Antioch Chapel, 3325 NE Vivion Road, Kansas City, MO 64119.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Julie Groce Memorial Fund in care of Bank Midwest.
