Kathryn J. Mickey

Kathryn Mickey passed away on Feb. 4, 2012 at Centerpoint Medical Center in Indep, MO. Visitation will be Wed. 6- 8pm, rosary at 6pm; services on Thurs. 10am at St. Marks Catholic Church. Burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Kathryn was born Feb. 7, 1918 in Indep., MO. She married Victor Szewczyk on March 7th 1936. In 1959 they changed their name to Mickey. They were married 43 yrs, living in KC where Victor was born. She was a former member of St. Stanislaus & St. Marys Catholic Church & participated in the Altar Society, Guild, & Legion of Mary. Most recently, Kathryn was a parishioner of St. Marks Catholic Church. She worked several different jobs, took care of Plagia Macijewski Szewczyk, Michael Macijewski, Joseph Kulph & many other family members. Her passions were cooking, crocheting & family gatherings/events. She is preceded in death by her husband, Victor and three sons: Edmund, Thomas & Ronald. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Sherry Mays Mickey; grandchildren: Hope Hughes (Wayne) Galena, Joseph Mickey (Heidi) Lee's Summit, Karen Mickey Troeh (Rick) Independence, Carol Mickey Royalty (Matt) South Dakota, Gina Mickey Salamasina (Joseph Jr.) Lee's Summit & Timothy Mickey (Sheri) Independence; great-grandchildren: Krystina Purvis Visage (Ryan Sr.) St. Marys GA, Stephen Purvis Raytown, Alex & Erika Royalty South Dakota, Cecelia & Elizabeth Mickey Blue Springs, Caitlyn Troeh Independence & Parker & Channing Salamasina Lee's Summit; two stepchildren: Allissa Hughes Blue Springs & Jared Hughes Wisconsin; two great-great grandchildren: Ryan & Adrian Visage St. Marys GA; two sisters: Mary Margaret Caron & Betty Fenley; two brothers: Joe & Raymond Eaton & many nieces and nephews.
