In his late teens, Khammone bravely joined the Lao Army during a time of civil war, fighting against the rise of communism. Following this period of hardship, he crossed the Mekong River into Thailand, where he lived in a refugee camp before beginning a new chapter of his life in the United States. In 1982, he immigrated to America, living in Seattle, Fresno, and the Bay Area before eventually settling in Kansas City.
Khammone lived a full and meaningful life, defined by hard work, resilience, and connection. For over 15 years, he worked as a chef at Plearn Thai Restaurant, where his warm smile and natural ability to connect with others left a lasting impression. He later brought that same kindness and dedication to his work with the Raytown School District for more than a decade before retiring.
In retirement, Khammone found joy in fishing, watching football and basketball with friends, and spending time with loved ones. A deeply social person, he expressed his love through cooking, proudly preparing meals for his family—especially his famous laab, which many would say was the best they had ever tasted.
Khammone will always be remembered as an incredible cook and devoted father, but to us, he was so much more. He was a man we deeply looked up to—a strong, hardworking provider who faced life’s challenges with resilience and determination. From his early struggles to building a life in a new country, he never lost sight of his goals and always wanted the very best for his family.
With an open heart, he brought people together, built lasting friendships, and created a close-knit community. Above all, he led our family with love, purpose, and unwavering dedication—leaving behind a legacy that will continue to guide and inspire us.
He is survived by his wife, Siviengkham Sanesanong, his daughters Amy Sanesanong, Dianna Sanesanong, Lisa Sanesanong, and Vali Phimmavongxay, and his sons Peter Sanesanong, Perry Sanesanong, and Aly Phimmavongxay.
A service and ceremony will be held Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Newcomer’s Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64133, between 1 pm - 4 pm.
