Larry F. Ditmars, 78, Independence, Missouri, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on May 11, 2015. Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. followed by funeral service at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 14, at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road. Burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ararat Shrine, 5100 Ararat Drive, Kansas City, Missouri 64129 or Moose Lodge #10, 510 N. Sterling Avenue, Sugar Creek, Missouri 64054.
Larry was born December 12, 1936 in Kirksville, Missouri, son of Olin and Luila (Martin) Ditmars. He was a US Air Force veteran. He was a member of Teamsters Local 41, Ararat Shrine, and Moose Lodge #10. Larry was an avid Texas snowbird.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Jim and Dean Ditmars. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Fredye; daughter Debbie Burleson; son Danny Taylor (Geanie); daughters Julie Medley, Paula Hemme (Chuck); grandchildren Corey Bolds (Amy), Jesse Taylor (Tiffany), Justin Taylor, Matthew Medley (Samantha), Cody Hemme (Alaina) and Mckinzie Hemme; six great-grandchildren. Larry is also survived by his sister Betty Libby, brother John Ditmars (Carolyn) and sister-in-law Dixie Boston.
