Larry Richard Nespica of Independence, Missouri, passed away surrounded by his loving family on August 19, 2022, to be with the Lord Jesus Christ after bravely battling a progressive lung disease.
After graduating from Ruskin High School in 1963, he attended the University of Missouri-Columbia to study Mechanical Engineering. He started his career at Wilcox Electric Company designing airplane instrument landing and lighting systems. He spent the majority of his career at Black & Veatch, serving as a Management and Marketing Consultant. He later retired as Principal at CDM.
He was preceded in death by his loving and supportive parents, Bonita Kathleen (Green) and Cesare Augustus “Chester” Nespica. He is survived by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 55 years, Diane Nespica; his two daughters, Lori MacAdam and Kristy Schieszer; his two sons-in-law, Mike MacAdam and Chris Schieszer; four granddaughters, Katie MacAdam, Avery Schieszer, Lizzie MacAdam and Sophia Schieszer; and his sister, Rose Anne Nespica.
Larry had a passion for life and enjoyed many things. He was an athlete, hunter, fisherman, performer, singer, runner, painter, dancer, deacon of his church, traveler, coach, husband, father and papaw. His life was surrounded by music, from performing "The Little White Cloud That Cried" as a child for his friends and family - his favorite Johnnie Ray & The Four Lads song - to participating in several community musicals. His other great love, and where he found the most happiness, was the outdoors. His favorite days were walking in the woods, hunting for deer and turkey, fishing at Bennett Springs and spending lazy days on the beaches of St. John and Marco Island.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Larry on September 17, 2022, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at their home.
